The Rise in Romance

By Mia Caven

With the new series One Day being released, there's been a conversation revolving around romance that has come to the surface. One Day originated from the book written by David Nicholls and was further turned into a movie starring Anne Hathaway, which got raving reviews. Amongst bookstagram and book lovers, there is a concern around generating pre-existing content and further killing the existence of books.

Rest assured though, books are far from dying. Nor are original romances. Thanks to people like lovenotes.pr on instagram, you actually see that the vast majority of releases in romance are actively happening every day; there's just NO marketing. In today's society, there's a large, heavy expectancy for authors, especially indie authors, to understand how to market their own books in non-traditional ways; aka social media. Which sucks - that's not what they want to do, know how to do, or get paid to do. Yet, it's part of the job.

Nonetheless, Romance is alive and well! Albeit, not every book is the best, that doesn't mean someone out there won't enjoy them. Here's a list of new or upcoming romances for you to dive into and enjoy, with a mix of traditional and indie releases!

Love Redesigned by Lauren Asher (5 ️* )

Papers Dont Lie by Maeve Hazel (2 ️* )

Moonstruck Kiss by Miranda P Charles (3 ️*)

Midnight Haze by Jade Church (TBR)

Some Like it Cold by Elle McNicoll (TBR)

The Pairing by Casey McQuiston (TBR)

Tripping for Numbers 68 by Eden Knox (TBR)

As an avid reader my advice with remakes on remakes on remakes is always going to be; read the original book. It's better, it's the best, it always will be, go read it! David Nicholls is an incredible writer that deserves his flowers).
