Dune 2
We’ve all seen Villeneuve’s visually stunning interpretation of the told and told story of Dune. Introducing us to its spicy (get it), political space wars, reminding us of the chilling exploitative issues we face here on our own planet, but what will Dune 2 bring? Perhaps the star studded cast of returning stars Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, along with Florence Pugh and Austin Butler being beckoned into the franchise, will be enough to reel in audiences for this 2 hour long action packed space war. Although technically out March 1st, we felt it was still acceptable to include this in our films to watch in the next upcoming month, purely for the hype expected to arise surrounding the film pretty damn soon.
Iron Claw
God damn America getting this film months ago. I have been eagerly awaiting this epic A24 tale of the Von Erich wrestling brothers since the film was announced two years ago, and finally my craving to see this film will be satisfied, when it releases on the 9th of February here in the UK. In my opinion A24 very rarely misses, and almost everything Harris Dickinson is in is pretty phenomenal, for example Scraper, and A Triangle of Sadness, so going into the cinema I will have sky high expectations, but I imagine they could possibly even be surpassed.
Madame Webb
Now, Marvel have been rather hit or miss with their recent projects, with successes like Amazons The Boys shedding a new light on superheroes, almost making everything Marvel make look slightly pathetic in comparison. The Marvel franchise has certainly aged well past its sell by date, making me extremely cynical about any new material. That being said I do have an inkling of hope for Madame Webb. A female fronted action packed film could sway me back onto Marvel's side, and with the trailer looking promising, I will venture into cinemas to watch what will hopefully be a new tale and a blank slate for Marvel and their decaying franchise.
Bob Marley 1 Love
I love a good biopic, and Bob Marley One Love certainly has me excited to see the tale behind one of music's longest lasting influences. Biopics surrounding musical legends such as Elvis, and Rocketman have been a popular trend in film over the past 5 years, but it is one which I personally welcome with open arms. With promising reviews rolling in, this film will definitely be one to keep an eye out when it hits cinemas this month.
Cuckoo
Hunter Schafer is the ‘it’ girl at the moment, creating a very successful career for herself following the major success of Euphoria, and I have no doubt Schafer will continue to succeed in what hopes to be a promising and interesting horror flick. I do enjoy a mysterious thriller, and with very little information regarding this upcoming horror film, I will continue to be intrigued until more information is released. Horror/Thriller films are one of my favorite genres to watch when done brilliantly, but they can be rather hit or miss, so we shall see when reviews start to roll in as to how this one will be received by critics.
The Last dinner party - prelude to ecstasy
I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the last dinner party as they opened for Hozier in December of last year, and my word they were brilliant. I have been repeatedly told by numerous people that TLDP are on their way to being one of the UK’s biggest bands, and I do certainly think they are correct.
The Snuts - Millennials
The Snuts are another band I have been fortunate enough to see live, having seen them perform at Reading festival back in 2021, their music and live performances are enough to make me want to remain up to date with this band's new musical releases. Having some bangers such as Made in California, and Gloria, I am excited to see The Snuts musical progression with this next album.
Idles -Tangk
Idles are one of my favorite bands and have been for a while, their political angst and grunge rock sound make them one of the most unique sounds, and personally fuel the angst that burns deep within me. I always look forward to seeing and hearing new content from Idles, making this album one of the most anticipated of the month.
The Walking Dead: The Ones who live
Now, the original The Walking Dead is probably one of my favorite shows of all time, despite its potentially catastrophic downfall after season 8, which led to many viewers tuning out of the show. As a fan of the franchise, and someone who stays constantly up to date with all things film and TV I genuinely have seen no advertising for this, a shame considering it is a monumental step for the franchise. Due to the fact all the other spin offs are not legally available in the UK, I feel the hype for The Walking Dead has been running on empty, despite being one of my favorite TV series. Whilst I think that this Rick spin-off has the potential to be great, and solve many fan mysteries, I wonder if it will reach the heights, or potential that it deserves.
Avatar the Last Airbender
From the animated TV franchise, to live action films, and now a further live action TV show, Avatar The Last Airbender never fails to gather public attention and praise, with a strong fanbase of the franchise. With the final trailer looking promising, I have high hopes for this new adaptation.
